Hi All:

I just got a new computer and have installed Photoshop on it. On my old
machine (since wiped clean), I had some a free plugin that color-corrected
underwater pictures. (It boosted the reds to make the pictures more
realistic.)

I can't recall where I got the color correction plugin. Anybody out there
know of such a freeware/shareware product?

TIA.

I've always meant to thank you for that plug-in, James!

I've been using it since the time you created it (10/16/2003) and it
doesn't appear to have been updated since.

Are you saying there is a newer way to do it?

TIA.

Yeah, A person has written an Excellent plugin - It's much faster than
my action, and in cases of uneven reds ( as in when the strobe was too
weak or only got a portion of the area ) it does a Much better job.

Credit to James Connell for this nice plug-in:

Might be the one you had.

I find it often works well, as an alternative to Auto Color and/or
Levels. It has been especially helpful to correct shots taken between
depths of 30-70 FSW, when the vis is 20 feet or more, such as we get
off New England.

Thanks for the information. I checked my old computer and still had the
plugin on there. It really does a nice job.

Thanks again.

A quite remarkable script (or action) is available from Adobe for
putting reds back into your underwater photos. This has certainly
improved my photos even those taken on a crappy Boots underwater
disposable camera sans flash.

After running the script - underwater.atn - you can then tweak the hues
to enhance the greens and yellows and reduce any remaining blues.

The addon is free!!

Enjoy - CJB.
