Aside from the SP Jet fins and IDI Turtle fins, which fins are best for
frog kicks?

I'm asking because I already have the SP Jets and IDI Turtles, but need
to find a lightweight alternative for remote destinations. I was
thinking maybe the Cressi Master Frog?

Thanks,
js.

Js, I get an excellent frog kick out of Mares Quattros.

One dive trip with them, you'll cut the Jets up for door stop wedges (I
own both).

I'll ditto that. Quattros are excellent.

The Cressi Frogs are nice fins too, but I like the quattros alot more.

The Jets are heavy, but I just did a cave diving trip with a steel
plate, Jets, reels, 18W HID with canister and 2 9AH nickel packs,
wetsuit, charger, tool/spares kit, 4 regs, backup lights, compass,
timer, masks, camera and housing and still was under the weight limit.

I didn't have the camera and housing, but did have the old SLA batteries
in my canister light and I also made the weight limit.  My regs were the
only thing in carry on.

Likewise.  In my opinion, they frog kick best out of the entire Mares
line, and by a significant margin.  (My LDS was kind enough to loan me
one of every fin they sold to try out in a pool alongside one of their
classes before I bought mine a few years ago.)  Also--don't laugh!--US
Divers Rocket fins are great for frog kicking, though I would not call
them light weight.

Try a set of Turtles.

The Quattros will gather dust.

Thanks, but I already said I have a pair. They're a little lighter than
the Jets, but I'm looking for something much lighter. This is to wear
with a wetsuit, so I don't need the extra weight at the feet.

Looks like I gotta find some Quattros to try out. I can see how the
center flex of the Quattros would create a better 'scoop' for a frog
kick. I don't really like the look of 'em, but the Quattro Excel Metal
LE don't look too bad. :-) Anyone know if there are springs available
for the Quattros?

Thanks,
js.

The Apollo Biofins have a spring system which can be adapted
to any fins. It has a flange with a flat face. Hold it to
the fins, drill 2 little holes, attach
SS plate with rubber plate from the inside. The flange
inside will dig a bit into the material so it won't disturb.

These are distributed in Germany by Poseidon.
And yes, they sell the spring strap assembly separately.

 Several different kinds.

I use doubled 1/4" shock cord on mine, and it works -super- going on 4
years I think.

I got springs on my spare Quatts, haven't used them yet.

Strange nobody mentioned, I have a pair of idea3 fins and they are perfect
for frog kick and they are not heavy like the turtles or jetfins ... and
they do perform (they have a big "spoonlike" scoop area), just try it out
... http://www.aqualung.co.uk/images/products/prd_technisub_idea3hf_adj.jpg

I have both jetfin and turtle (for drysuit), idea3 is perfect for travelling
(LIGHT!!!) and that without frog kick performance loss
