:For over 20 years I've wanted to dive Grand Truk. It must be because of
:an article I read in Skin Diver Magazine or something. Well I'm not
:getting any younger, so I would like to know of anyone else that's done
:it. Would you do it again? If you would can you give me some advice on
:where to stay, who to use as a dive shop / guide, and what I should
:expect to pay for the trip.
I think its Truk Lagoon. The one with all the WWII planes and ships.

If you're not sure which is which, start with Grand Turk and work your way
westward.

I was there in 1989 and stayed at what is probably still the best
hotel in the archipelego.
The diving was fantastic, the time spent on land was boring. My
suggestion is to definetly go, but stay on a liveaboard.

If at first you don't succeed, you run the risk of failure.

It's Truk Lagoon, now known by it's native name of Chuuk.
IMHO, do a liveaboard. There are three there - the Aggressor,
Thorfinn, and (I think) Odyssey. If you do a Google search on Truk or
Chuuk, I'm sure you'll come across links to these boats and you can
get up-to-date prices on them. Getting there is a butt-number - 48 to
Hawaii then either a local to Chuuk or a non-stop to Guam and a other
back east to Chuuk. You're probably stuck with Continental.
Worth it all? You bet!
I'll send you a couple of old dive reports.

I read your reports; they were awesome. Given that the islands sound
limited and boring a liveaboard does appear to be much better.
I'm grateful to you for your posting, emails, and advice.
