Puerto Vallarta Dive Shop?

Can anybody suggest a good dive shop in Puerto Vallarta? My wife and I
will be there in late January, staying at the 'Club Velas Vallarta
Resort' near the marina, and we both want to get certified while
we're there.

I would like a shop that limits group size to 6-8 people, has good
instructors, and good equipment. A shop near the marina would be ideal,
but not absolutely necessary.

Thanks!

Buy a round.

Or, go buy all the SCUBA rags at the grocery store and read all the Puerto
Vallarta dive shop recommendations you could ever want.

Sorry, I don't drink. It kills brain cells and my supply is running
low. :)

Take it easy son. I think maybe we should get you a cab.

In that case, go to the Lighthouse and have a soda one evening.

Dude ... if you don't get enough recommendations, it is
because almost nobody here goes to Puerto Vallarta to go
diving!  It is a great place to kick back and soak up the
sun and suds, but diving ... so-so at best.

Google   puerto vallarta dive shop   and you will get all
the info you need.

Just my $.02

Nice place, rocky beach.  Be sure to go to the Lighthouse across the way for
some drinks one evening.

You will probably have a hard time finding anyone here that knows much about
this.  PV is not really a dive destination.  My recommendation to you, is
that you get your classroom and pool work done at home.  Get a referral to
take your open water portion for PV, if that is what you have your heart set
on.

Best of luck. Hope you have a wonderful time.

Thanks, we may do that, although I don't drink much any more.

Puerto Vallarta wasn't my first choice for a vacation this year, but
some friends asked us to go with them. We all went on a cruise to
Cozumel and Belize last year and had a great time. Snorkeling in Belize
was fun. We wanted to go back there this year and do some diving, and
we were just beginning to make plans when our friends asked us to go to
PV. I've been to Mexico many times, but never to PV, so I figured what
the heck. And, since we're going to be there, why not have some fun and
get certified in the process. It may not be a big dive destination, but
they sure have a lot of dive shops. I'd like to do the classroom and
pool stuff here before we go, but the closest shop to our home is too
far to make it feasible.

Muchas gracias mi amigo!

There's a few good restaurants near there, including the one at the hotel
(on the beach).  But there are some awesome places in town, up on the hill
overlooking the town square area and the water.  Pack your large wallet.

I've had lots of fun there a couple of times, but then again, I drink and
all my visits were pre-diving.  ;^)

OK, that's too bad.  So get certified and then plan your next trip to
Ambergris Caye, Belize.

De nada.

Now that is a wonderful idea!  I also want to have a look at that big
blue hole they have down there. It's a damn big reef, so I may have to
stay a while.

It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it. :)
