I am looking for the best WARM WATER destinations to go diving. My husband
and I are new to diving, so I don't really know where to go. I would like
some ideas in and out of the US with a lot of colorful corals and fish.
Thanks!

The best warm water destinations are in the Indo-Pacific. Because that's
where pretty much everything originated, it has the widest diversity and
greatest selection of marine life. The problem is that it's on the other
side of the world, and bad things like terrorists and malarial mosquitoes
are out to get you. If you're new to diving, start somewhere simpler.
Otherwise you'll be spoiled for the more mediocre stuff. The "best" can
wait.

Agreed. Try South Florida and the Keys. They're easy to get to and provide a
lot of good experience for newbies. I've done the Boynton Beach and Fort
Lauderdale areas and have really enjoyed the Keys as well. (There are a lot
of places in the Keys that are not deep and hence not overly challenging but
which provide a good opportunity to polish your skills as well as to see
some nice coral and fishies.)
Enjoy!

I agree. The Florida Keys is my favorite area to dive within the US for
warm water although during the winter months the temp can be borderline - at
least for me. But the combo of the cost and the marine life there (since
there are protected marine parks) is hard to beat.

I'm like a broken record sometimes, but for new divers, I recommend San
Pedro, Belize and diving with Amigos del Mar. I've never found a better
dive op anywhere that I've been so far. Dive sites 5-15 minutes from shore,
great little town, lots of restaurant variety, nice country, English is the
main language and the money is easy to figure out, in that it's set $2
Belize to $1 US.

Well, getting there might be pricey, but living there isn't, unless you
want to stay in one of the fancier resorts (and miss most of the good
diving ;-)
Coron bay, for example, if you like big wrecks.
