I know that if you use talc on your seals, it must be unscented with no
additives. What if you use dish soap (I see many people using diluted dish
soap prior to donning their suits)? Are there perfumes or other additives in
dish detergents such as Dawn or Palmolive that could affect the integrity of
the seals, or is it not an issue?

Use K-Y jelly.  I got 3 years and about 400 dives out of a pair of
wrist seals on my DUI with it.  And that was after they were already
pretty used.  I don't know what the official opinion is, but that's my
story and I'm sticking to it.  I'm finding theh last set of seals I
installed don't currently need any lubricant at all.

Besides, it's fun to be on a boat and hear people yell "Hey Lu, pass
the butt goop."

Get another load over here, and we'll hook you up with Pappy.

You'll have a suit that fits in a week.

no I didn't go over.  As a rule, I hate the demo days things anymore
just because of the number of stupid people.  I did ask her if they
would like any help that weekend, just because I am a nice person
(!!!!).  WHen I got no response, we decided not to go over.

Personally I like to use baby lotion to squeeze into my dry suit, but I
have neoprene seals. I don't think it would be so kind to latex.

Talc works well as long as the seals are dry. Once they are wet, however,
talc is no longer an option.  Many commercial divers use Ivory Soap.  It is
easily obtainable and will not hurt your seals.

Safe diving,
