A few years back I purchased the subject fins at my LDS.  They have never
been used.  You're probably thinking it would be nice to dress up the logo
since IDI has departed the business world.  How would one go about such a
thing?  You're probably thinking a Marine Corps dollar in place of the logo
might be the perfect solution.  Wow, you're way ahead of me if you were
thinking that I'd put a proof Marine Corps dollar or a brilliant
uncirculated Marine Corps dollar on a flipper.  That's not practical.

No, I was thinking about selling the IDI fin set and using the money to buy
Marine Corps dollars from the US Mint.  They are on sale now and the
quantity is limited so I need to move the fins fast.  That brings me to this
dilemma: Should I just trade the fins for Marine Corps dollars or should I
sell them on eBay and use the proceeds to buy Marine Corps dollars?  What
are the tax implications of each transaction?  Have you contemplated
acquiring Marine Corps dollars in a similar transaction?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

You're welcome.

Have you considered forming an OCS self-help group with Feesh? Then you
could start referring to the Marine Corps silver dollars as MINT
CONDITION Marine Corps silver dollars, and Senor Ling would have a
continuing source of foibles and nit-picky obtuse references to rant
about.

Think about it. It could be a win-win for both of you.

Have you gotten that buoyancy thing yet Alan?

Yes, I have. Did you ever figure out the delta-T thing?

Good for you.  Now all you need to do is buy two of the Marine Corps
dollars, one proof one uncirculated, and you'll be up to speed.  Good luck.
