I have an Orca Marathon which I have used since the late 1980s - so yes
I have gotten more than my moneys worth. Still, for what I use it for
its a great piece of equipment... and I would like to keep using it.

I was looking to replace an 'O' ring (battery door) and get new
batteries, so I started looking on line. I did a google search and came
across  www.orcadivecomputer.com. I placed an order on their website
-paying by Payapl - and then tried to e-mail them only to find out all
e-mail addresses - from the website and paypal- were invalid. I looked
some more and found that Orca was purchased by EIT electronics and that
EIT was no longer in the dive computer business.  I contacted paypal who
sent me a short note saying that the parts I ordered were backordered
and that I would get  a refund. No further information was available.
Clearly, someone when through the trouble to set up a website and an
order entry system - where did they go?

Does anyone know if there is service available for these units? I found
batteries on line (1/2 AA 3v as well as some ORCA NOS). But I still need
an appropriate 'O' ring. Also after all this time it would be nice to
get the 'checked out'. Any information would be appreciated.

I am still using Marathon's ancesters (at one time, I regularly use
8 of those critters, now down to only 3).  :-)

I've never had any problem with the O rings to require a replacement.
I've run down dozens of sets of batteries.

That was YEARS ago, in the mid 1990s.

But they still sell ORCA batteries, I think.

Service?  Dunno.  Never needed any except replacing the spring of
the battery compartment, in the late 1980s.

I have bought my recent sets in a local battery store (chain), called
Battery Plus, I think.  Not sure if it's the same chain as this one
http://www.batteriesplus.co.uk/

Radio Shack is supposed to carry the 1/2 AA 3v batteris too, but I
never had any success getting one from them.

One last thought:  you may be able to BUY a used Marathon (with
running batteries) for about the same cost as a set of new batteries.
