Douglas W. - 13 Aug 2005 01:52 GMT Anyone have a well known contact at DUI?
They're just fixin to piss me off.
-- An American friend of mine - living in Canada - says that in the US, greed is acceptable but envy is a sin. In Canada it is just the opposite. I would suggest that envy is our national sport. And no one inspires more envy in us than our southern neighbor. It is a shame, because any legitimate gripes we may have about America get lost in a sea of childish wolf-crying.

Sorry to say it, but every person I know who bought the DIR "have to dive a DUI or you aint sh.t" line is pissed off, and moved on.
Maybe just a trend or a phase.

After we sent in his measurements, they called me back and asked if it was metric dimensions.
I had great luck with my Whites (the one I dove with ya'all in Florida), as did eberyone I know who owns one.
My next drysuit will either be from Whites or KME:

Anyone there I -can- get ahold of, says "ask your DUI dealer/LDS".
Rather broken record like.
I might stalk Mr Long at the next Demo Day.
Star - 13 Aug 2005 05:53 GMT Pops - whats wrong with your suit?
E-mail me and I'll tell you who to call. I'll call her for you if you like.

I want to go there to get one made, and they keep refering me to the LDS.
Because of my size, when the thing is ordered wrong and doesn't fit despite someones' best effort, I'll still be holding the bag...

Okay. Haul yourslef out here in a few weeks:
http://www.dui-online.com/dog_tacoma_2005_diver.html
It's 15 minutes from my house. We have a nice guest room. We have lotsa tanks.
I am sure someone from DUI will be there and will measure you personally, and ship your suit to the LDS of your choice.
Would that work? Who have you been talking to at DUI?

I just keep getting the "Yea, your dealer can take care of that" line.
I want a custom suit, and I want to see what they can do and what they can't.
Some custom pockets and lettering in reflective material, and some bungie corsetts for the world's largest calves.
I don't care what it costs, and I'm willing to go to the factory.
I'd sure hate to spend this money with Sea Elite. :-)

Oh sure, Mr. Moneybags will pay anything for a drysuit but ask him to buy one little backplate and wing and it's nothing but complain, complain, complain...
Truckin's been good to you, I see.
The calves on my suit are huge.
I wonder if you could wear it. Sideways. Or something.

At this point, I've had at least 8 different wings and 5 backplates. :-)
I just bought my third Sea Elite wing last week, having sent my second one to O'Neil.
I got three of each now, just had one backplate finished in Olive Drab, it looks sweet. :-)
Dennis is coming from Huntsville tomorrow, I got his (Koplin) done in Matte Black and we're gonna set up his doubles.
I got him some self locking nuts <cough>.

There was about 18" of leg accordianed at my ankle.
At around 275, I fit a stock 2X quite well.
Whistler - 13 Aug 2005 08:23 GMT > Whaaaaaattt?!? > > At this point, I've had at least 8 different wings and 5 backplates. :-) And not one of them with a big blue H on them.
And I bet you're using those nylock's still.
Rat bastard.
I have some new stories to tell whenever the great winds of commerce blow you my way. Not to mention that the night dives here are really nice.

One went to Mickey, one went to JOF.
I have owned and dove Diverite, Scubapro, Halcyon, Sea Elite and have a Oxycheck for tomorrow.
So far the Sea Elite spanks 'em all.

I learned to dive dry in a rented CF200. Since it was a stock XXL (which their site says is custom, so how can it be stock...), it was too small by their definition, but in fact it fit me like a glove. I had absolutely no trouble diving it, ever. I wish I had talked the shop into selling it to me, even though the CF200 weighs about 50 pounds and takes two, maybe three years to dry.
Maybe you should get measurements, then call every LDS in the country to see if someone has a suit that's just a bit too small for you by those measurements.
Don - 13 Aug 2005 18:02 GMT > At around 275, I fit a stock 2X quite well. What the f.ck????????????? Never mind calling the people at DUI. If memory serves I'm pretty sure I overhead Dick Long (at the Gilboa DUI Day) tell you to contact him directly because of the obvious fitting issue. Mebbe you need to mention that in your next contact.
I can vouch for the leg problem. I wouldn't have believed it without seeing it. You made a reg DUI leg fit like a skin.

Star - 13 Aug 2005 15:15 GMT I am contacting Faith to remind her of what Dick told you at the Demo days a few years back -
I know for a fact that Faith will measure you herself if you can meet up with her. She's at all the demo day things. I know she has done this for others and the results were favorable.
Give Dick a break - Lee passed away abbout a month ago.
If you go to San Diego , holler - we can pop down for a dive or two. I'm wanting to dive the Yukon in the worst way.
I'm scared to ask what the lettering will say.

She grooved on my scuba tattoos and the scuba diver brand, and had a guy take pictures.
> Give Dick a break - Lee passed away abbout a month ago. I'm truly sorry to hear that.

We can see if Cliff will fit in there.
I'm in the process of negotiating at work for more west coast runs, Seattle in particular, and if they don't come across, I'll get a new gig.
> I'm scared to ask what the lettering will say. DUI TLS350
on the front, and
POPEYE
across the shoulders.
But I want it on reflective fire-man coat material.
Plus I want a flight jacket type pencil pocket on the shoulder, a wetnote pocket on the right front thigh, the usual bellows pockets on the side, and the corsetts.
Maybe a rescue shear pocket sewn on.
It'll work good, look cool, and really isn't all that complicated.
I have lots of cocktail napkin drawings...

If that's not enough to discredit me, then read the seahorse dive report.
JOF - 14 Aug 2005 00:22 GMT >> Do I know Cliff? > >We've never met, but after JOF squeezed his ear in Dutch Springs >following me, he ran like a girl over to Ohio to dive with you. > >(Sorry John, just wasn't funny any other way.) It's the truth. The only time I've ever done it and it had to be there.
But I was actually thinking about that day while reading the thread about thumbing dives. I felt bad about screwing up the dive for you and Carl but when I said I was going in and for you to carry on, you guys wouldn't abandon me. I was perfectly happy to paddle back in but you weren't having any part of it. You start the dive as buddies and you finsh together.
That was the day that read like a roll call at rec.scuba camp. As we paddled in from my ear implosion chatting in the rain a voice called out "Cliff" and you introduced to Trace in the middle of the quarry. Then we got to shore and we were accosted by a big grumpy looking guy called George Horn. Shortly thereafter some guy in a Trooper tried to run us down. That would be Udo. Then we went to dinner and I met Salty for the first time and learned that George wasn't grumpy. He was just overdue for about 10 pounds of shrimp with a side order of clams.. That was my first experience with rec.scubans. I survived.
Star is much kinder to me. No power dives when I'm least expecting it and I'd sooner swim behind her butt than yers any day.

If it is measured incorrectly, it's the fault of the LDS.... but before you go to the LDS, print out the sizing form from DUI's site and have someone measure you. Remember the key numbers. If the LDS is off, or is off in a direction that you are not comfortable with, question them and request a new measurement.

I'm up there once a month, or once every other.
No problem for me to stop by.
I've swapped e-mails and been dodged on phone calls, these people are fighting tooth and claw to send me elsewhere.

They seem to think this idea abhorrent.
Other Rec.scubans have told me aside that they just don't want to accept any responsibility for their product, and frankly, it's beginning to become apparent.
