Has anyone been to Roatan in January, or have any thoughts about that month?
I know the rain won't ruin much diving, but will my non-diving family be
stuck in a hut because of rain?

I will be there in January, so I am hoping the weather is fine. It
rains a lot in October/November.

They have an orphanage in Roatan.  If you bring something to donate,
they will come and pick it up.  They will also give your family a tour
of the orphanage.  If you would like to visit their website, it is
www.csiRoatan.org.

Rain does make diiving less enjoyable.  The vis goes down because of
run-off and lack of sun.  The boat rides are also less fun.

If at first you don't succeed, you run the risk of failure.

I'm sorry I didn't realize I asked input on what it  was like to dive in the
rain.

From my perspective you should be more concerned about cold fronts
called Northerners in January then rain.  With a Northerner it is
overcast, windy and cold.  Lasts about three or four days.  I'll never
go to Central America again in January for that reason.  I can't tell
you how frequent they are though.  Anyway there ain't much to do on
that island.  Diving's good though.  Have fun and stop worrying about
the weather.  You go often enough chances are you will hit excellent
weather most of the time.

hmm...  Shopping and eating at West End, Marble Hill Farms, Iguana Farm,
botanical gardens, Institute of Marine Science, Museum of Roatan
History, BJ's place in Oak Ridge and that's just off the top of my head.

No, there is nothing to do (unless you leave the dive resort).
