We are considering a Dive trip to Roatan and are thinking about 3 resorts;
Anthony's Key Resort, CoCo View resort and Inn of Last Resort. We are
looking for an All-inclusive (meals included) package in a nice place.
About us; We are certified divers but have not had a dive in 5 years and
only have 5-6 dives total experience. So we will likely need some sort of
refresher and/or personal attention to get us back up to speed. We'd like to
take full advantage of the dives but might also want a day or two to relax
and enjoy other activities.
Anyone been to any of these resorts? Which one(s) would give us what we
need?
thanks in advance
Alok

Can't speak for the other resorts, but I just returned from Cocoview. As far
as I am concerned, they meet all your requirements. They book well ahead.
Very popular.

I've been to CocoView several times, loved it, but I don't think
it is for Buhda. You can dive yer brains out, 24 hours a day,
but diving is all there is.

Mike is right and CocoView is kind of out of the way to many of the other
sites and activities to be found on the island. However, Anthony's Key,
offers other diversions and also is much closer to West End and West Bay.
Down near West Bay, there's a zipline which is kind of fun and West Bay has
a beautiful beach.

Tulio was a fun guy, very good at spotting the small stuff. He will be
missed.

We've been to Inn of Last Resort and we loved it. It's been a while (5
or 6 years) but it was perfect for us. It's close to the dive sites,
friendly people, and we had a little side trip to the ruins which was
fun.

All of those resorts would be more than good. Be sure to clearly
explain your need for a refresher course and don't just jump aboard and
pretend you're fine! Take it easy and you get to come back twice.
Taxi or bus to the West End will provide interesting activities, day
and night. Camera time!
On the mainland, La Ceiba can provide other adventures and quite a bit
more of the "Honduran" influence. They have river rafting trips. The
Hotel Paris is nice ($30) and the Hotel La Ceiba is less expensive, but
ok. Ricardos Restaurant has exquisite dining at the $10 level.
Stay in the well lit areas at night, gringo...
I wouldn't even get out of a car in San Pedro Sula.
If you feel like some fourth world adventure, try a short flight to
Palacios to visit the gateway of the Real Miskito Coast. Not many
tourists ever go east of there, but if you do...be well prepared for
another world. You should start taking Chloroquine tablets for Maleria
three weeks before you enter this region and don't drink the lagoon
water unless you pray to Budah first...
