I will be in Nassau in early June - a port on a cruise arriving at
Nassau at 1:00 PM. I had booked a dive thru the ship who uses Stuart's
Cove. I recently got a cancellation notice from Royal Caribbean due to
the time in which we arrive.
Does anyone have any suggestions on who to dive with that may
accommodate the time I will arrive?
Thanks

Wow, that kind of sucks. I can't say I'm particularly surprised at the
cancellation. Stuart's is on the opposite side of the island from the
cruise ship docks.
It's been a long time since I dove around Nassau and I have not kept track
of the dive operators. Under the circumstances, I can only come up with
three suggestions:
1. Check around for any Nassau operators that may offer personalized
service. Book a private dive. If you can get Royal Caribbean to provide
information on others who were cancelled, perhaps you can book for yourself
and others, a more economical and potentially more enjoyable thing to do . .
. or talk Royal Caribbean into doing it for you. Good luck on that, but you
never know until you try.
2. Check around for somebody that supports shore diving. The best diving
around Nassau is not from shore, but I'm quite sure there are some shore
dives to be done.
3. Take the time and spend the money to visit Atlantis and enjoy the tour
through their aquarium. It's not diving, but we enjoyed it on our last trip
to the island.

don't know if the can help, but try Nassau Scube Centre or dive Dive
Dive. All of the diving is on the opposite side of the island from the
cruise ship slum.

It's Dive Dive Dive. Nice operation. They came to Paradise Island to
pick me up to go diving every day I was there.

Nassau Scuba Centre treated me really well on my last trip down there. I
would dive with whomever could accomodate my schedule.
Tony, are you guys diving yet?

In a couple of weeks, the Sea Hunter III will be in the water. I can't wait!

Sounds like I'm in the same boat..........or would that be on the same boat,
but different schedule. RC Soverign arriving Nassau June 8, but at 7am. I
was going to book independently, but Nassau Scuba Centre wanted
$100/pp/non-refundable a month in advance. Those terms and conditions were
a bit much. Apparently, our trip insurance is issued through the cruise
line, and they claim they will not cover excursions not booked through them,
where most trip insurance should cover it. I found this out the hard way,
and in particular talking with Amber from this NG. If you're covered, thats
fine, but I would stand to loose $400 if we couldn't make it.
I've heard good things about Nassau Scuba Centre, but you may be running
into the same problem with them as far as your arrival time. They mention
being picked up from the transportation center by 11:45 and 12 for the
afternoon dive. Check the Cruise Ship Visitor link at the lower right of
their page at:

Maybe they can make special arrangements, or try Dive, Dive, Dive At

Good Luck,
George
