Tripneustes ventricosus. Common, delicious, favorite food of
Bahamians and fireworms. More often seen covered with bits of
sand and shell.

Thanks Mike, you've covered the most important information about any
pecies - how does it taste? Do you have any recipes?

For some reason it has a sharp taste to it.

Urchin is  vile.  It tastes like licking the bottom of an aquarium.  I've
said this many times, and I'm often asked how I could know how the bottom of
an aquarium tastes.

Well, the answer is that I don't know for sure, but I suspect that it tastes
an awful lot like "uni".

Well, the edible part is the gonads and roe. Just crack em open
like an egg and scoop out the good stuff with a finger. This is
a two-handed maneuver, so crack and scoop before ya spit out yer
reg. Tastes like licking the bottom of an aquarium. Delicious.

My only taste of uni was free.  The sushi chef said "if you don't like
it, it's free".  Almost puked the rest of dinner.

I was out for sushi with a friend.  He thought it should be part of my
education.  He laughed.

Fortunately, the chosen menu included many more items that I love.  I didn't
have the same problem you did.  Regardless, I will always remember, my first
and last taste of uni.

Good ones taste like the sea.

I agree with Chilly.   I've got friends who salivate over Uni at our
local sushi place...I can't understand it (now the spicy scallop sushi
is to die for, however).

That tastes like the desert.  Unless you didn't wash the glass.
