Atta boy.  I'd do it myself here in San Diego, but the rain and wind
have really turned the diving south for the winter.

So I'm going to the desert to see the flowers, instead.

The weather and diving are beautiful here in Washington.

Interesting. My radio station reported that we'd had more rain since
January than you, but I figured they were lying, what with their being a
bunch of liberals and all.

Doesn't matter anyway.  I'm in the middle of a release schedule at work
and don't have the extra brain power to dive and my Roatan trip seems to
have left a lovely afterglow that hasn't worn off yet...

Never can tell. You have to keep an eye on them, dont you?

Yeah, but have ever ever seen an Enteroctopus dofleini?

'cept your water is cold, full of salt, and y'all have to use sunken
culverts for caves.   :-P

But they got little teeny ones that cant take your mask, reg, camera or
squeeze the hose on your CCR shut.

Well, I don't have to worry about my camera or CCR hoses, and it's easy
to find newbies in the basins to kick off the mask & regs.......

Not at all the same as having a 16' octo take a shine to your brightly
glowing dive computer.

Or your mask.

Or second stage (*always* the one in your mouth).

My thing is to go down there, pull a glove off, and touch the back of my
wrist to the back of one tentacle.

This is a creature that has never felt heat, let alone 98.1 F.

Every time, he/she is not threatened, but only intensely curious.

When was the last time you got felt up?

   Um, safe there too.....

   Sounds like military dive training.....

You mean 88.6 deg F, and rapidly falling?

Last night.  Bet I enjoyed it more.   <evil grin>

No doubt.

No, but a hell of a lot prettier.   ;-)

Be cool now, it don't take a whole lot to be better looking than a giant
pacific octopus...

However,

Nope, better drop it before I get kicked in the bag.

No, just crush proof made to our specs.

Rub it in Curtis. We have 6 sets of doubles filled and ready and
scooters in a storage locker in jacksonville, and we were packed and
ready to go for 5 days on Thursday, but had to cancel due to weather and
USair idiots in Philly. I'll be back in the South for good soon; I
promise you.

Yeah, damn weather, rained most of the day.  I'd say it doesn't matter
much for diving, except the vis was the worst I've seen in Manatee.  Still,
had a great day, even getting into the system not once, but twice, from the
spring basin.......quite a challenge.  We had the park pretty much to
ourselves, which was a plus, except for the fun of surprising swimmers with
an exit after the short traverse.

That's something that most of these folks won't understand. Getting in
from the spring basin requires extraordinary strength and determination.
My cavern instructor told us we could do a cave dive if we could gat in
that way. After trying a few times, I decided it was damned near
impossible. Here's to a well seasoned caver...

:-)

Truth is, one of my two buddies also made it once, after quite a bit
more time, and minus one fin (using spring traps no less), so we couldn't do
the planned upstream traverse.  First dive was instead the 2 entries, and 2
squirt exits, making 3 of those for the day.  Kind of like getting shot out
of a cannon, quite a rush!
