Can someone please tell me the real name of "Flashlight Fish" ??
These are fish that I saw when doing a night dive off of Kimodo Island
in Indonesia. We called them Flashlight Fish but that is not the right
name. They are kinda meduim sized, with a very distinct glow in the
dark and they pool in a circle at night.

Anomalops katoptron or Photoblepharon  palpebratum?

WOW !!  Ya know, I thought that you were kidding me by saying that it
was the real name. I typed the species names you gave me into my
search engine and looked at a few sites there very quickly... and you
weren't kidding at all !! They do call them 'Flashlight fish' !!  I
didn't have time to look for long and I still don't... I gotta run...
but I was interested in finding any pics of these fish.  If you can
give me any websites or other info that is specific to them, I'd much
appreciate it. Regardless, thank you so much for your original reply
!!!!  :)

I've told you that Flashlight fish sounds better ;-).

I have no specific site for the FF (books still rule here), but
http://www.fishbase.org is a real gem. It has descriptions of the most
of the species around, including the FF, and you can also search using
common names in different languages.
