Grumman-581 - 25 Dec 2004 20:22 GMT Looked out my window earlier and wonders never cease -- IT'S SNOWING... Ok, for some of ya'll, this is not a big deal, but I'm in the New Orleans area these days and that just doesn't happen much around here (not that it happened much back in Houston either)... I checked the NOAA site for the Slidell airport (about 1 mile from my doorstep) and they were calling it "Unknown Precip"... Apparently no one over there is old enough to remember the last time it occurred -- probably sometime during the last Ice Age...

Rudy Benner - 26 Dec 2004 02:15 GMT At the neighbourhood of -40 degrees, they are about the same. Ok, if you wanna nitpick, -39 c is -38.2 f. No wind means no wind-chill factor.

I suspect that you're on a first name basis with your snow shovel... <grin>

Technically, you nailed it.
You folks don't know what square tires are. Most of you would be unfamiliar with a block heater {not the woollen thing that Canadians put on their head}. We actually plug in the car at night. Yes, we are odd enough that we actually prefer to live in Canuckistan. Imagine.

Sadly enough, my 'Merkin built truck doesn't have a block heater..... TG I live in Trannah, you can get away with not plugging in the vehicle. Truck tends to be pretty unhappy when first awoken on the coldest days however.
Ken Kurtis - 26 Dec 2004 00:42 GMT 75º, sunny, blue skies, and just a hint of a breeze in the air. Plus, we can see snow of some of the higher peaks in the distant mountains. Gotta love an LA Christmas. (Some people even go diving.)
:-) Merry Christmas everyone.

Perhaps its a severe lack of dissolved nitrogen, a VISA card with a zero balance, money in the bank and no job at the moment, not to mention a brand new bouncing baby digital camera c/w underwater housing needing a baptism in salt water.
It would only take me 30 hours to get to the keys.
JOF - 26 Dec 2004 04:28 GMT >Minus 39 degrees this morning. No wind. Whew! Too cold, dude. It's just right here - just a shade below freezing with lotsa snow on the roads. I've been out playing with my wife's new AWD.

Combination of snow, sleet, and rain... A couple of bridges had a little ice on them, but they had sanded them, so now they're sandy icy bridges... Not many stores open around here on the 25th... One Chinese restaurant, quite a few gas stations, and a couple of daiquiri shops... Interesting to note that there were more daiquiri shops open than restaurants... Makes one understand the priorities around here in the New Orleans area... Rescued a couple of teenagers whose car had died in the middle of the road... Towed them to a safer place where they wouldn't be run over...

It was a vaguely amusing show, but even the creator says it's nothing more than a work of fiction.

50's and rainy here most of the day, yesterday turned nasty on the drive back from our dive site. <-------(rubbing it in too)
Supposed to get nice just in time to go back to work.

Most of the snow and ice has melted -- a few spots in the shadows are still around... Currently 49F... Personally, I find it difficult to get in the mood for diving when it's snowing or sleeting... Even if the water is a constant 72F, you still got to come back to the surface sooner or later...
