Recently, I had an air conditioner condensation drain back up.  I put bleach
down the line, everything seemed fine.  A week later, it backed up again.
Put some more bleach (pool chlorine - 10% bleach) in; no response.  Having a
couple of full 80's in the garage, I connected my regulator, disconnected my
second stage octopus, and used the end of the hose to blow out the , ahh,
blockage...dead lizards, cockroaches. etc. (Florida you know)that where
probably clogging the thing.  Seeing how I had some contact with the bleach
at the end of the hose, I rinsed it well to avoid corrosion, and being in a
substance that will disolve all forms of life next to prions, felt
comfortable that the octopus was going to be happy.  All is well, and the
drain from the air conditoner is clear a month out.

Used the low pressure port?  Shameful... A *real* diver would have used the
high pressure port... <evil-grin

Nah.....more pressure, less flow.  A REAL diver wouldn't have use a
regulator at all.

I've had full-time A/C guys use a tank of nitrogen to blow out these lines.
Now I to my own PM -- every month or so I take the shop vac and suction them.

Well, I never thought of bleach..and I don't think I'll try it. I was thinking
thought that some enzyme cleaner must be available. On my system, the drain
leaves the tray horizontally. What a pain in the a.s.

A real diver would hook up the 5000 PSI storage bank

Now *that* is a good idea. I have" made do" in the past by running a piece of smaller
tubing into the line and then blowing that out with my shop compressor air. I never thought of
using a vacuum from the other end though. That would get the thing pretty clean if you get a
good seal. Every month seems a little extreme.

safe diving,
