For those interested, the trip report and the pix from our October Baja
adventure are now available on the Reef Seekers website.

$2,295 for a spot that otherwise costs $1,695-$1,895, leaves you $400-600
for group rate airfare from LAX to La Paz (which runs about $250), plus you
get a freebie trip for yourself?  What a great deal for you.  No wonder you
resort to spamming the newsgroup for customers.

We can just be thankful that the rest of the dive trip salesmen of the world
don't all post their 'trip reports' here or we'd be overrun by spam.  Nice
to see you're still alive, though, since we haven't heard from you here
since the last spam.

At least he's posting something about diving (as did you :-). Right now
I'd even welcome a couple of self-serving trip reports as a contrast to
Scott's foaming at the mouth.

This newsgroup really isn't for either commercial advertising a la Ken
Kurtis or political propagandizing a la Scott.  However, Scott's posts do
not have the potential of benefiting him financially as Ken's certainly do
(unless Scott really believes Bush will cut taxes on the middle class if he
gets re-elected).  Scott occasionally posts on diving-related subjects just
as I (and you too) occasionally do, while Ken posts only spam here nowadays
saving his other dive-related posts for the local SoCal BBSs.  In 2004 Ken
made exactly 3 on-topic non-spam posts (one on DEMA, one on compressor
maintenance, and one on fish ID) and exactly 3 advertisements in the form of
trip reports.  Of course the 3 on-topic posts bore his commercial sig.  And
then there's the borderline Chamber Day posts which, while they are posted
in the name of a worthy cause, are definitely irritating to many here and
definitely help promote Ken's business.

Scott may be a foamer but that beats a spammer in my book any day.  And
Scott is powerless to help himself whereas Ken knows exactly what he's doing
wrong.

Fancy you should mention a trip report because I was fixing to post
something about my trip to Galapagos on the new liveaboard "M/Y Deep
Blue".  <grin

I'm looking forward to it :-)

Nah.  I think he posted some political stuff in between.

I haven't checked out your pics from this years trip yet but I'm told
that KW was the DM and that a few of the "regulars" were on board.  In
light of that, I'm sure I missed an excellent week !!   Did KW find a
frog fish or two like he did last year ??

My Galapagos trip was very good... and oddly enough, it reminded me of
much of the Sea of Cortez dives that I had with your store trip on Don
Jose.  Many of the sea creatures that I saw in Galapogos were the
similar, but more so, the underwater seascape of volcanic terrain was
very similar in many aspects.

In a moment of 'dive comradery', I taught the ppl on our liveaboard to
do your  "hammer song".  In their zeal to see Hammerhead Sharks, they
did it too much, like American Native Indians begging the gods for
rain.  Perhaps as a result of all that "hammer songing", I literally
don't care if I see another hammerhead shark for the rest of my life
!!  They were abundant, up close and personal... and looking into the
eye of a hammerhead isn't like looking into the eye of a white/black
reef tip or Galapagos shark or silky shark,  as I found out.

BTW, I recommended your shop to several ppl on my trip and told them
to book Sea of Cortez. :)
