Is it any good?

Its still downloading, at about 11.3 kB/sec. I have 168 meg of 227 so far.

The lower bandwidth one is in wmv format which I think is a streaming format
that will start playing before the whole thing is downloaded.

Too late, I have almost all of it already. Maybe I will get both of them for
comparison.

I knew you were downloading so I just deleted the link, the file is actually
still there.
I'm doing one now thats better quality at 27MB. I think that one will be
the best tradeoff.

I have both files, not bad. Would like to see the file at 27 mb. The small
file is not really acceptable. Photographer needs to get closer to his
subject, and some more light would help.
It just reminds me that I have 8 hours of unedited video from a trip in
October of 2000. Maybe I should see about transferring it to CDs.

Finally, the 27MB version is out there now.

I don't know about the video itself, but if you're as clueless about
videography as you are about Internet services, I'd be worried. As it is, I'm
not about to download a 250MB file from a server that can't deliver data faster
than 14K/sec, so there's no way I'm going to be bothered to watch the video
(and before you ask, the last network speed check I did with this computer and
network connection was over 7MB/sec. The problem definately isn't on this end).

I encoded it down to about 10MB, if you pick the low bandwidth option (well,
maybe lower) it wont take so long. I'm trying to find a good balance
between the quality and size.

It certainly downloaded faster. I'm not on a system that I can watch it
at the moment, but will later.
The moral of the story is don't put huge files on a website unless
you've got the bandwidth the deliver them reliably (most cable modems
are asynchronous - data comes in much faster than it can go out).

LOL, I realized the second after my cable modem light went on solid I was
screwed. I put the smaller files on my other sithe that's hosted on a real
server. I just didn;t have enough room for 200MB
It was originally captured for to put on a DVD-R at normal TV resolution.
If I captured it smaller it wouldn't be so large.
