Well it's been an interesting 2 yrs. I registered the site two yrs ago
as mostly an experiment as well as a way to make up for being such an
a.s in here at the time.

The experiment was to see IF I could get the group rec.scuba involved
for any length of time in a project somewhat more creative that flame
wars and political/gun/dive etc. chatter.

A few such as Kimber, Mickey, JF Popeye and even Salty stepped up to the
plate to take a crack at it.

Nessie and others tried to help with design pic's etc.

For a while it looked like the experiment was going to be a success the
chat room took off thanks to kimber and Micky's on line daily romance.

More and more were getting involved in the on-line free for all that WAS
the room. some liked it others hated it BUT were involved.

The web site never really went very active.

Over MUCH complaint from time to time I REFUSED to control the room OR
the chatter I left it to the operators to run it as THEY chose to agree
upon sat back and read the logs and watched the fun.

After a while tempers started flaring up more and more from time to time
some times deserved sometimes not. IMHO

To make a log story short the chat room split those who wanted it calm
and polite left and started their own. The rest stayed and complained
some played it both ways and sat on the fence in BOTH rooms.

for a while the other room grew in popularity and the original shrank to
non use. so be it. I took it down mostly to prevent further hard feelings.

The 2 yrs are UP the experiment from MY viewpoint is a failure as of mid
november this mo this year the domain rec-scuba.com will be up for grabs
I'm NOT re-newing it.

Anyone wanting to register it feel free I'm NOT selling it it won't be
mine as of mid nov.

I've made a few friends in here some as a result of the project others
in spite of it. ALL are valued.

Safe Diving.

It was a failure in everyone's view, farmer. You were just the last one
to catch on. Again.

So, will you be shutting the f.ck up about it now?

"Even Salty" was there from the beginning, Jack. So was Bullshark. We
won't bother to go into the history... though we still have logs.  :)

It was lots of fun at one time. Good luck with future ventures.

Yep ya are right Salty YOU were there at the start as was sharkie. (You
also left to help prevent hassels to the chat room. I've NOT forgotten,
just wish it had worked out differently.) Sorry it's been a while.

As to the history it's JUST that history. I dumped it with the log's
when I turned off the chat room.

> It was lots of fun at one time. Good luck with future ventures.

Yep for a LONG while it was fun. It stopped being fun for ME when it
became too much like the newsgroup. One reason I'm not here much anymore.

Thanks for the wishes we are currently setting up for a new project and
getting the servers ready for such.

It will be interesting.

I'll most likely have another chat set up.
Mostly for old BBS times sake and for the customers in the project sort
of as a live help desk kinda thing.

Now, if you'll just shut the f.ck up about it, and then stay away from
Kimber's forum, maybe it'll go someplace this time.

Oh, go ahead.

You know you have more sniveling to do.

You *do* realise that Fosters is an Aussie brew right?....and a crap one at
that. I'll have a VB for the Aussies though, and a Steiny for the All
Blacks!

They drink weak dog piss, sold under the name Budwieser, which is pretty
accurate since it's Buds Wee...

Fugures they'll drink crap aussie beer.

It won't matter in the end. England will beat either team the way they are
playing at the moment. I'm just pissed it costs me $20 a game to watch it.

I'm on the far end of 75 Km of copper twist cable on a dialup that rarely
manages 26kbs. I miss town where I had access to a 400mbs fiber optic T1

I've got enough beer, WAIKATO beer, named for the region, for 80 minutes of
hardcore rugby. Since it's the boks, I suspect there will be two yellow
cards and 4 switched off for injuries over the course of the game.

With the scots, aussie will likely win, But I don't think they're that
likely to make their bonus point. The Scots are pretty tough at the moment,
more so than the wallys, but the wallys are still souther hemisphere players
who have had the tri series and super 12 to toughen them up.

Since the England game is at 5am my time, I'll be paying the $20 ppv for the
first rerun at around 9 tomorrow am.

The part that does not make sense is that the expiry date is exactly
two years after the start date, and, my few observations on this topic
lead me to believe that domain names are bought by the year.

Depending on the registry, domain name registrations can be for one
year, two years, three years, five years or ten years. It appears that
rec-scuba.com was registered for a total of two years, and the
registration was getting ready to expire. Jack didn't want to pay to
maintain the registration, so he offered it up to the group.
Registration is typically $35/yr, so it appears that Kimber decided
she'd like to take over ownership for this amount. Jack has apparently
agreed, and transfered ownership of the domain name to Kimber. I don't
see anything strange or unusual about this transaction at all.

Two years starting in March 2002 ends in March 2004.  The part I don't
understand is why Jack said it was going to expire in November.

Giving it to Kimber is neither here nor there.

That was a MISTAKE on my part that Kimber corrected me on. Apparently
I'd confused the date on IT with another that IS up in nov.

Sorry for the confusion entirely my mistake.

Jack, reel in yer chain. The boys are tugging on it. Alan got it
right. The date doesn't matter. What you do with the domain doesn't
matter. Some of us appreciate what you tried to do with the chatroom.
That it didn't pan out is no reflection on your efforts, more on the
independent attitude of the group in general. Trying to organize
rec.scubans is like herding cats.

It was a nice gesture to offer the domain to Kimber. Hopefully she has
a little fun with it. I doubt there is anyone here so flinty of heart
that they'd begrudge her that bit of diversion.  To put it mildly.
she's had enough unhappy stuff in her life lately.

Well it WAS a fun experiment, and worth the 2 yr investment of spare time.

I was NOT sure she'd want it (Due to reminders and such) thats WHY I
offered it in here FIRST I figured IF she did, she'd contact me if NOT
someone else would.

Worked out as I'd hoped and expected including the chain pulling. haha

This is just nasty and uncalled for.  As of now, I am out of this
discussion.  What you have emailed and posted has been uncaring and out of
line.  I no longer wish to lower myself to your standards and associate with
such.  Flame all you want -- fuss all you care to -- as far as I am
concerned you no longer exsist in my world.

I have far too much to deal with now to be associating with anybody who does
not choose to be a friend and/or compassionate.  You have proven yourself to
be neither.
