Just wondering what is considered proper when you  were well

Why do you feel a tip is in order? Anymore it seem like everyone has their
hand out expecting a tip.

Well considering what a boat dive cost it would be nice not to have
to tip, but on the other hand I'm not sure it is expected or not.
Surly wouldn't not tip a food sever since they rely on tips for their
income. Are dive guilds paid well enough or is it comomon practice to
tip them? If so how much? Keep in mind if their greedy like the first
poster they get 250% of 0. =:{)

There is no such thing as a "dive guild" and yes, they rely on tips for
their income. Their wages barely pay the rent. The tips are what feed them.
No tips? Then they have to take a night job tending bar or waiting tables
which usually pays better (by a good double) than the day job. This leads to
a situation where the experienced and good crews leave the industry and the
new innocent and inexperienced crews come in. This is the reality of the
industry. They'de rather stay in the dive industy, but you gotta eat, and no
one wants to work 20 hrs a day.

In Cayman, on the Brac, it was difficult.  For the outstanding service, and
needing hard cash to get out of the airport (although I think that has
changed with an ATM), it was hard to give more than $5 to everyone, and $10
for the good ones.  This really adds up in Cayman, but we felt we under
tipping for their service, but we had to maintain some cash just to get out
of the country.  Our personal rule is $10/diver/day for really good service.
Althought we got that on our recent trip to the keys, we only had $60 cash
for two days diving for four divers with great service without visiting an
ATM.  That's what we had on hand to give (I don't think a credit card tip is
that great), and he seemed very appreciative of that amount.  Give what you
personally want to, or can, for services rendered, over and above what is
expected.  It seems any amout is appreciated.

Tipping is voluntary.  It's an expression of appreciation for good service.
How much did you appreciate the service?
