I enjoy Dive Training and Alert Diver (DAN). Both tend to cover the most
up to date theory and research (such as it is) better than Scuba Diving
IMHO.

Bullshit.
DAN's "theory" and "research" don't deserve to be called either.

Dive Training is still the best, and I can still offer any newbie a
subscription for free for 6 months as long as they are in the USA.

I'll take one (compared to Mike Gray, I'm a newbie :-)

Dive Training seems to have good information. Geared towards
students, but still has stuff for current divers wanting
to improve their training/skills.
I know what you mean about Rodales. They seem to write stories
about the same stuff over and over. It seems very biased.
Every year they talk about the same destinations. Like
Grand Cayman for example. yeah this diving id good, but
find something new to write about.
Their gear tests seem biased also. The don't test all the
manufacturers and only test the ones that advertise with them.
FYI... Rodales has been sold to some new company a few months
ago. So there might be some changes, but I don't know what
or when. Magazines are typically ediited a few months in
advance, so it might take a few month months before improvement
is even a possibility.

Unfortunatly I'm a Canuk, so no free mag. But thanx for the offer.
I'll look into it (I'm sure the LDS had some in stock).
