Newbie to snorkeling and to this forum so please be patient.  I'm
looking at purchasing a Sea & Sea MX II camera and am curious if anyone
out there has an opinion on it.  I have no plans to learn diving or to
use the camera other than for surface snorkeling photos.  Don't want to
do the disposable thing, but don't want to spend a fortune either.  I
can pick up the MX II for $89.  Any and all comments will be warmly
welcomed.  Thanks in advance.  C.

Why don't you just try one disposable before spending more.  It is very
difficult to get good photos while snorkeling because the surface of the
water is always moving up and down.  This may not be a practical idea if
you're going on a trip and would not be satisfied with the few photos you
would be able to take.

A good UW camera is a waste for most snorklers.  I think you'll find
the disposables to give just as good performance.

Pretty much agree, but at $89 for an MX-II, the financial break-even is
probably at a half dozen or so rolls/disposables.

Only thing I'd really be concerned about is user skills regarding camera
O-rings:   if he floods the camera in the first ~10 rolls, he's no
longer ahead of the game vs. disposables.

And this is really a question regarding how careful/meticulous the
individual is, and not too much the hardware.
