I am not a subscriber but I heard an offhand remark and was curious.

So what was the offhand remark?

FYI, the Undercurrent article on dive computers didn't seem too terribly
profound to me; it basically said:

1) that electrical devices taken into saltwater tend to break.

2) that 'always on' computers may have more battery supply problems.

3) that 'vacation' divers have 'second use' failures, and that some
manufacturers will sometimes replace these out of warranty products.

And coming next month, in PART II:

4) that electronic equipment with extra bells -n- whistles ...
specifically Air Integration ... make the reliability problem worse.

The reliability of AI has been talked about here in rec.scuba since at
least January 1997, so this is not new (or particularly profound) news.
