bullshark - 29 Jun 2004 15:55 GMT Like I said, scubadiving.com was getting pretty tired, so I had to do something about it.
Check it out...
Don't you wish *you* were cool enough to have a Google gmail account? If you email me, I might tell you how I got that cool. BUT: 1) Don't mess with the subject line 2) Don't even ask me to unmunge your reply-to, because I wont.
With a gig of storage on someone elses nickel, google geniuses handling all the spam and viruses, I won't have to resort to cheezy half-baked address munging in my usenet conversations. Ever.
You might want to consider this option. Munged reply-to's are an abomination to usenet and NNTP integrity, nevermind that they irritate the hell out of anyone trying to provide a personal reply.
This is the reason I did not mark this as OT. I think finding ways to handle and defeat Newsgroup spammers and viruses is very much on-topic. I thought that some of you may not have considered GMail as a solution to this particular problem.
It is bar-none, the coolest webmail interface that I have ever seen. I like it so much, that I wish I had a local client that worked the same way.
I don't think I'll have to worry about this host going away any time soon.
safe diving,
chilly - 29 Jun 2004 16:32 GMT Are you reading rec.scuba over Google also?
It's almost a day late all the time. But if a person doesn't care about that, it's no biggie.

Absolutely not, that's for compu-strokes like feesh (c: The main reason is that I would have to post using a google id and a web editor and I pretty much hate all that gick, but it raised a question I hadn't considered: Does my gmail account automatically identify me to google for NG posts? YES, it does., so thanks for that.
>It's almost a day late all the time. But if a person doesn't care about >that, it's no biggie. If you are asking if gmail has day long delays for email delivery, it doesn't, and likely never will. NNTP and the job they do with it is a whole different kettle of fish from little old emails. In trials so far, it has the fastest availability of any address I have.

TonyP - 29 Jun 2004 17:38 GMT Ok... how. And thanks. I have read about Google doing something like this, but didn't know when it would be in effect. I would like to be "cool" too. And not from diving here in NY.

There is a reason, other than geography, why we like it here.

I know Puget Sound is not divable in the winter!
