Went diving FINALLY this past Saturday. I had foot surgery in Feb.. been
house bound and broke my other foot babying the surgery foot. Told doc I
was going diving. Glad I did.
EGS... ready for this?
Dove the Oregon off of Long Island, NY. 500'plus ship in 130' of water.
Surface temp a warm 51 degrees. Bottom temp, a blistering 39 degrees.
Vis was a wonderful 50 feet horizontal, 100' vertical.
Got first lobster of the year and scallops were brought up by the ton!
All in all... a great day of diving. Even with one mending foot and a
broken other foot.
And, guess what I am going to be doing this coming Saturday? Diving.
It's good the diving season has started here in NY.

Hi Tony, glad you had such a good first dive.
So far I have been lucky, and went out already 4 times this dive season!
Lets hope it stays this way so we can make up for the horrible 2003 dive
season we had.
Next Saturday is the Arundo for me.
Rgds,
Ed

Hey Ed... good hearing from you. Already out 4 times. Good. I had foot
surgery in Feb. While 'recovering', I fell and broke the other 'good'
foot. But, having a soft cast, I went diving anyway. Surgery foot is ok.
Soft cast on 'new' broken foot.
Going out diving again this Saturday on Howard's boat. The planned
destination is the G&D. I haven't dove it in a couple of years. Good for
lobsters. But, if the vis was anything like it was on the Oregon, I
really wouldn't care if I got a lobster. There is plenty of time for that.
I too hope that the dive season will be better than last year (although
I did get the Doria in). We are thinking about doing the Texas Tower. I
dove that a few years ago. Vis was 80' of blue water. Great dive.

I dove the G&D a couple of weeks ago and viz was about 40 ft. Not that many
lobsters though.

The Oregon was like that. Came back with a 2pounder. That was it. Saw
many tiny ones, but nothing else. But the scallops. Guys came up with
bags of the stuff.
If the vis is 40' this Sat., I will be more than happy. Even if there
are not lobsters (there HAS to be one with my name on it). I got my
first 8 pounder off that wreck a few years ago. Last dive of the year,
doubles weren't working right. Vis sucked. Dove my single 120 can came
back with an 8pounder. Nice way to end the season.
