School House Rock

The wife ordered a DVD of School House Rock from Netflicks.  It was a lot of
fun to see these old cartoons from my youth and sing along with "Conjunction
Junction" but then there was the historical lessons.  Somehow I just
couldn't find it in me to enjoy "Elbow Room" anymore.  I guess I'm getting
old but such simplistic interpretations of history offend me now.  Can
anyone defend the concept of Manifest Destiny?  History is such a complex
subject and does not deserve to be treated so lightly.  I realize that these
cartoons are meant for grade school children who have yet to develop the
ability for critical thought but still...  .

That aside, dove Makaha Caverns as a shore dive last week.  Makaha Caverns
is always an excellent dive (if the surge is not too bad) and only a few
hundred yards off-shore.  So why pay for the boat?

Glad you've had a good dive. I've only been in the water once this year -
dang nabbit!

Nope.  Just making what I thought was an interesting observation.  I said
the same to my wife and she agreed.  As you grow older and (hopefully)
wiser, you come to see some subjects as just too serious to be reduced to a
jingle.

I feel your pain.  Looking through my log book, I actually have been diving
less frequently (~3 dives/month) since moving to Hawai'i.  Go figure.

Ok. Still, could fire up the kids interest to see what really happened.
And yes, it is a serious subject.

BTW, may be out your way in August, if a paper I've submitted to a
conference gets accepted.
I plan to bring my dive gear. Even though we've disagreed over the years,
I'd like to meet for a dive, or at least dinner.

Me not get along with someone?!  Please.

Sure, remind me when the time gets near.  In August we should still be able
to dive the North Shore.  Lots of turtles up there and Pizza Bob's for the
post dive munchies.  ;^)
