Getting around Palm Beach Area

I plan to go to the Palm Beach area in the next few months for a few
days of diving.

I don't plan to rent a car so I was wondering how far the Palm Beach
airport (I'm coming in from Newark International) is from decent hotels
and the waters.  Can I assume that I can get around the area easily
enought by cab.  I am only concerned with my proximity from the airport
to the hotel to the water.  No interest in "sightseeeing".

I'm not familiar with the area and would appreciate any advice.

Thanks,

South Florida is a personal auto oriented area. There are cabs, not many
and very expensive, and a smattering of public transportation, most of
which will carry you from nowhere to nowhere.

There are decent hotels close to the airport, which is not very close to
the water and even further from the dive boats.

Suggest you rent a car. Off season rates are pretty cheap.

No.

Rent a car.

Assume that all other drivers will ignore all rules of the road.
Actually, a few will follow then, but this is the safest way.
