I am heading off to Maui for a weeks worth of diving during the first
week of May.  I was wondering if anyone could recommend a site where I
could stand a good chance of seeing a ray (eagle ray, manta ray,
whatever I just want to see one) at that time of the year.  Most of the
things I pull off of google are for the big island, even though I'm
searching specifically for rays.

I saw an eagle ray last week at Ulua Beach. There was a manta ray that
others, not me :( ,  saw at turtle town. I'd try and get to Molokini. You
may see a ray, but in any case the diving was beautiful - 100 feet
visibility and an amazing amount of fish, including lots of white tipped
reef sharks.

Sounds good.  Already planned to dive at those sites.

Already booked - 2 tanks.  One on the outside, one on the inside.

Cool.  Can I feed one of my friends to them?

Have to be a small friend - they were only 3-4 feet.

Where on Maui? Here on the south side, we see rays (mostly Spotted Eagle,
but an occasional Manta as well) pretty regularly at all the popular shore
dive sites. Not every dive tho... just dive a lot while you're here and
you're bound to see some. Molokini's probably your best bet for Mantas...

Mostly on the south side.  I was just hoping that there may be a "hot
spot" where we'd stand a good chance.  I've never seen one before (any
type of ray that is), and would really like to see one...

Seen mantas on multiple occasions and multiple mantas more than once
at Molokini.   Also saw plenty of white tips of various sizes.  Saw a
large blue on the backside, but the backside usually as a wide
assortment of big critters if you look off into deep water instead of
looking at all the neat stuff on the wall.
