Refusing to ID yourself to a cop *now* will get you arrested.

In Washington, you cant be in a bar without ID, regardless of age.

And what's the point of that?  If they can't provide an ID showing
they're 21, don't serve them.  Anyway, the important bit is that if
the SCOTUS goes the wrong way on this one, you can't be outside the
bar without legal ID either.

Somehow, I'm not all that concerned about requiring bars to establish
proof of legal age but I am very concerned that any policeman can "run
your social" just because he feels like it.

Further, whatever is going on in Washington state seems likely to fall
within the scope of this decision so those who wish to go to a bar in
Washington without ID may be interested...

Regards,
Ross

To make everyone get ID.

You can do that now, but you better be able to convince the cop that you are
telling him the truth about who you are.

Any cop can run you for wants and warrants; if he has you stopped for
speeding, and you make him hinky,
he can run your arrest record, and then play 20 questions. A full
background, called a Triple I, has to be attached
to a case number or criminal investigation, or because you have signed a
release, such as for a Class 4 or CWP.

Greg can tell you, all it takes for PC is a sharp pencil. If a cop asks you
to identify yourself to him, and you
cant, he is required to hold you until he ID's you positively. They pick up
a lot of fugitives that way.

It's not just Washington, many states have the ID law.
