Is the Maldives appropriate for novices? If so, which island?

My wife and I, both novices true to the meaning of the word with 5
logs each, are planning an April diving trip to the Maldives.
Is the Maldives appropriate for beginners, considering drift,
visibility, and so on?
We gave up on Palau because it's more suited for the more experienced,
as the best sites there require good buoyancy control and scoping with
drift.
Could anyone recommend a specific island for us?
We are looking for (1)excellent visibility, (2)pelagic, and (3)macro -
in that order. We are not particularly thrilled about corals..
I'd greatly appreciate advice on our trip.
Thank you for reading my post.
