Colombia the country is spelled Colombia. Try a search with the correct
spelling. I read a short time ago about a rash of kidnappings and murders
in the countryside near Barranquilla. Santa Marta is a tad north and east
of Barranquilla. Here is a link to a map of the area.

That area of Colombia was known for cannabis cultivation and as a smuggling
route for other drugs. I think the travel advisories are still in affect
for the entire country. You may wish to check with the State Department
before traveling there. The FARC and other rebel groups have gotten more
aggressive and caution is advised for that reason. Crime is another problem
that is widespread in Colombia.

Likewise for Northern California, another dangerous spot.
Have you read the travel advisory on Cuba? It's a real hoot.

Diving is a risky sport. I drive through Compton on the way to my local
dive boat. I'd rather my car break down in Cartagena than Compton.

Isn't your car breaking down something akin to Scott's gun jamming?

Actually, the only time I was ever pulled over for "vehicular assault" was
in South Central L.A. Fortunately I convinced the cops it was justified and
they let me go.

Defending yourself- by whatever means necessary. Pretty much a battle
cry for rec.scuba
Sounds good to me - why is there an issue?
Should I do a google search to come up to speed?

They might even still be in "effect", despite your affectations.
