Dinner Thursday night at the Rustic Inn.
I'm not a regular smoker but Greg is and since it is very hard for me to be
around people that smoke without lighting up myself . . .most especially
when cocktails are being consumed. Well, suffice to say I had many more
cigarettes in a few days than I would normally have in a few months.
This dinner gave me the opportunity to meet Jayna, it was far too brief a
meeting, however, (and this is where the smoking comes into it) those
smoking breaks gave Greg and I an opportunity to get to know her one and
one. Jayna is ever so vivacious and I do so enjoy people with such energy.
Jim Greenlee also joined us for dinner. It is always great to meet
rec.scubans. I played footsies with him under the table. He didn't seem to
appreciate it.
Rick Simms sat to my left, with Robin, Bill and Dennis. These are all
wonderful people but having had the opportunity to spend more time with
Rick, I got to know him better and I have a tremendously soft spot for this
humorous great hearted fellow. Can't wait to see you again. Thanks for the
plane ticket ;^)
T and David sat to my right with Lee and Jayna across from them. As I said
before, T is a lovely, lovely person and how Dave got so lucky to have a
woman like her so fond of him, I'm not sure . . .
Oh wait, did I say that outloud? Must monitor my thoughts. hee hee.
Actually, David is a wonderful, thoughtful person, generous with his time
and his spirit. If I'm very lucky, he and T, will come up this way soon and
I can spend more time with them.
David organized the Wednesday trip, and David, I'm sorry I can't remember
the name of the boat. It sure was a nice one though and for sure the guys
really thought that the DM was great. hee hee (I thought she was pretty
good too though she didn't hold quite the same appeal to me as she did to
the guys)
Lee originated the Dive with Greg concept, he organized the dive day on
Splashdown, he kept track of who was in and who was out and who was about
and where we would go for the group dinner. He also helped me out
personally in a most generous way that made all the difference to my diving
enjoyment. Thanks again Lee.
The next day, Greg and I were supposed to go to DEMA . . . the whole purpose
of his trip. Somehow or other, the day grew late and we just didn't make it
to Miami. I enjoyed every minute of my time with Greg, even the bickering
and he didn't seem to mind me nagging him from time to time . . .regardless,
I really don't care to talk about the crab eating episode at the Rustic.
Greg, my dear friend, why didn't you have the scallops instead?
On Friday Greg left me . . .:^( It wasn't something I said, was it? (wg)

Excuse me, but I am no regular smoker and my health insurance policy will
back me up on that. I was only smoking because you were. As a gesture of
good faith to our neighbors from the north, I joined you in one of those
quaint Canadian local pastimes. As you found out, smoking is illegal in
Florida.

That was a good ploy, to get her away from where Lee was hiding her so we
could pick her brains and find out all sorts of embarrassing tidbits about
Lee.

Only because he thought it was me.

I believe he made that offer before he found out you weren't flying on a
airline that charges in Canadian money.

Maybe her eyesight is as bad as her English? Anyway, it won't last as soon
as she starts diving and gets a view of those handsome old strokes strutting
around the dive boat in Speedos.

And please don't call her T since that's the moniker of that strange
Australian woman.

No comment. And I wasn't looking down her bikini top when she bent over,
honest.

Ya mean he carried the flag?

DEMA? Oh yeah, that is why I flew out. Funny how the same thing happened
last year, in Vegas (though I at least made it into the show for a couple
hours). I should have taken your advice and not prepaid for the badge.
It's too bad they can't hold DEMA in some boring place like Texas so I can
actually make it for a few whole days. Oh wait, looks like 2004 is in
Houston. Perfect.
As for scallops, I can walk into the water around here and get as many as I
want (up to 10). I can only get crabs in Florida.
> On Friday Greg left me . . .:^( It wasn't something I said, was it? (wg)
Actually it was all your smoking.

Sure, that's why I was bumming your smokes.

Well, most places that we wanted to smoke that is. But I found a great
place after you left. Overlooked the ocean, moon shining down, high stools,
private table, drinks = 3 for the price of one . . . oh yeah, and hot and
cold running sailors.

Thank you. Of course, you thought we were all going to the ladies' room
together, but that's beside the point. Oh wait, maybe that was Greenlee
that thought you were going to the ladies' room with Jayna and I?

:^) But the airline I flew down and back on, did charge me in Canadian
money . . a lot of Canadian money.

Ppphhhhtttttt!!!! Hey!!! You are so bad.

True enough. Maybe that's why he hasn't quite got her certified yet.

OMG!! That's right. Ever so sorry. From this moment forward, she shall be
referred to as TLMT, as in "the lovely Ms. T". How's that?

From where I was sitting no one needed to look down her bikini top to see
damn near everything. Not that I'm jealous or anything . . .

He said he didn't. He said he wore the black ones.

Well, ya, but I still missed hooking up with my Belize buddies. :^( We
picked a bad day for changing hotels.

Not only is that perfect, but it's only 2+ hours to Belize. Hmmm . . .

Those weren't even Florida crabs. Give it up.

Shoot, you don't need to pick Jayna's brain for embarrassing tidbits, I
readily embarass myself all the time.

Knowing us, it will probably be incorporated into a gun and knife show...

That would certainly boost attendance.

Yeah, but the DEMA folks will have to explain that no, that is an oxygen
tank, not a bazooka or super efficient silencer...

They'll probably hold it over at the Astrodome complex or the Brown
Convention Center... They often have multiple conventions at these complexes
at the same time... Sometimes you'll see a home decorating show next door to
the gun show... Works great -- your wife can go to the home decorating show
while you go to the gun show... For DEMA though, I would expect that the gun
show might filter off quite a few of their attendees...

That must've been one of those late nights at the Tiki Bar???
Dave.

I miss your part of the world, and moreso, the friends I have there. I'd
like nothing better than to come back and bring my handler with me to show
her around.

The Ocean Explorer was the boat. Iyt is new to the area and I'm still not
sure if they're fully operational yet. The DM was one of the best I've seen
yet, well wortrh the trip. Nevermind the diving!
Dave.
