Could somebody walk me through the steps (i.e., what buttons to push
when, and how many times) to get my Cobra into Nitrox mode?  I've got
and have read the manual, but I cna't make it happen.  I did manage to
set the time and date, which I consisdered a major triumph :)

Thanks.

1. Calculate dive with standard mixes.
2. Do dive.
3. Drink coffee.
4. Sell Cobra on eBay.

Use the Homo Sapiens Mark 1, Model 0.

It only fails under conditions of lack of coffee.

Thanks so much for taking the time to post such a helpful response.

You're welcome.

See the DM to find out how we like our coffee.

There's supposed to be a card coming with the cobra. that card has the steps
explained.
If you can't do it from that card, how are we going to manage walking you
through these steps?

Take it...the manual...and the quick reference card to the LDS where you
purchased it and have them go through it with you.  That's why you bought it
from them and not on eBay.  It's called service and you already paid for it.
You DID by it locally from a dive shop, right?

BTW, make sure they tell you the little trick about ALWAYS leaving it in Nitrox
mode (because you can't switch back and forth in a 24 hour period).

You're welcome.

Black, hot, and freshly ground please.

The manual is pretty comprehensive on how to achieve nitrox settings--the
manual can be downloaded from here
http://www.suunto.com/media/suunto/manuals/en_US/cobra_manual_en_11855.pdf

never use a piece of kit before you fully understand it--you could and
should always revert to tables and use the comp as a timer.
That said the settings you require are on page 50---funny enough the page
before the time and date settings.
That said i use a stinger as a backup/alarm and have found it reliable (if
not more conservative than tables)

Ken,
The only "trick" is getting it into Nitrox mode - by all means check with
your LDS if you're not comfortable - here are abbreviated instructions:
3 Mode Options
3 Set
2/3 Set Pref Options
3 Model
Nitrox (Select from Air/Nitrox/Gauge)

Then to set O2% and/or Max PO2
3 Mode Options
3 Set
3 Set Options
1 Set Dive
3/4 Set Dive Options
4 Nitrox

Remember that you ALWAYS need to re-check your O2% before diving - DO NOT
ASSUME that it is where you had it last time!

Hope this helps.

Well, that's so much simpler, we see the advantage...
