I have a Suunto Cobra computer, about 3-4 years old. Battery graph
shows it is still ok, but I am going on a liveaboard, and will take a
backup battery "just in case."
My question - Suunto sells a battery replacement kit (battery plus
o-ring, I believe), whereas my radio shack sells the battery. Do I
need the kit, and how easy/hard is the battery replacement?
Thanks

Depends on the condition of the O ring.
I changed mine last November and had no problem.

Don't take a backup with you, replace it before you leave. Most divers that
use computers, believe that having one go out during a series of dives means
you sit out until you're certain you're effectively stabilized at sea level.
Most consider 24 hours about right. If you think you might need to replace
the battery before the end of your trip, the time to do it is before the
first dive of the trip.
