Well, in your case, "Lifetime Warranty" means the lifetime
of the company! You are out of luck.
While some of the IDI products were very good, they have
been teetering on the edge ever since the founder let it go
to the kid. Maybe bad management or maybe just the times,
but the last two years closed the deal. There are lots more
companies that are going through the same thing. Some
closing, some realigning.
for that reason, it is best to just pick your stuff based on
the quality of the gear ... not the promises of the maker.
Just my $.02.

IDI was purchased by XS Scuba.

I am sure that your XS Scuba will honor the lifetime warranty.

Methinks that the possibilty of an internet reseller going out of
business is much higher than a manufacturer going out of business.
If I were the LDS that sold you the product, I would honor the warranty
even if the company went out of business.
Disclaimer: I sell XS Scuba products.

What would you do if you couldn't get parts?

Since the original poster said that he has a BCD, there are probably
several parts that could be replaced if they were standard size, for
example, corrugated hose or an inflator, maybe an elbow.
In the case of a failure of the bladder, it might be able to be patched
by a specialized repair shop (for example, the one I use for drysuits)
or a replacement bladder obtained.
But in the end, it is basically about making the customer happy, and if
it came down to having to replace a BCD with an equivalent product from
a different manufacturer, that's what I would do.
But I'm sure that there are plenty of IDI parts that could be
obtained...

Matt,
Since you are a dealer for XS you may have been told more
than the rest of us, but the page clearly states that it was
an asset acquisition and does not say anything about a
merger or business purchase. I read (and have been told by
other reps) that XS bought molds, patterns, product and
parts supply information as well as dealer info. If XS will
honor anything left over from IDI, that would be plain PR.
But I think it would be wrong to expect it.
IDI was one of the first to blatantly sell on the net
through their own website as well as to advertise at DEMA
for dealers to do the same. They opened every little garage
operation they could as well as some very fine dive shops.
Most of the dive shops tossed the line when their customers
came in with IDI gear obtained off the net or at the
taxidermy down the street. I don't know how much that
contributed to the downfall but ...
Dealers handling warranty problems incur some costs for
either doing the work themselves or packing and shipping
back to the company. As a dealer for XS, I am sure that you
would not like having to handle warranty problems for stuff
that you never sold or never will sell. Of course, you
probabbly will ... just cuz you are a nice guy!!
Just my $.02.

Well, actually not, but am interested to see if they will keep the IDI
name or just use the designs, etc. in order to bring out new products to
supplement their lines.
Since XS is a "new" company, I'm pretty sure that they will work
something out to make IDI users happy.

They can't afford to. They just bought the assets of
Parkway as well to give them a full line compliment of
products. If they start paying for old warranty stuff right
off the bat, they may just join those companies on the trash
heap!
