Check your owners manual to see the recommended interval and warranty
provisions. If the regulator is waranteed for life, you probably need it
serviced every 12 or every 24 months, depending on the terms of the
warranty. Proper care and maintenance of equipment is essential and it's
best to follow the manufacturer's recommendations.
I have most of my regulators serviced every 12 months, receive free kits,
and maintain the lifetime warranty. I don't do anything with the BCD/wing
or drysuit valves until there is a problem. For the most part, my equipment
is only exposed to fresh water. If it was in the ocean, a different service
schedule would be adopted.
