Question to Buyers - Best way to sell a Housing

Folks, I'm trying to sell an Ikelite housing for a Canon G3/G5 camera,
but I'm not getting any bites.

Do you think I'd be better off purchasing a camera off of EBay and
selling it as a package, or do you think I can eventually get a buyer
for just the housing? The thing wasn't used that often, and then was
completely refurbished by Ikelite, but I don't know how many people
have a G3/G5 and are looking for a housing.

Any thoughts? Any better way to get a word out to G3/G5 owners?

Maybe. That way it's complete and your market is larger.

You will have a buyer on eBay and sell it at the end of the listing if you
auction it off. No eventually about it. The problem is you don't know what
price you're getting until the auction ends and then you may not be happy.
But, it will be sold.

No matter. List the item and start it at $0.01. It will be gone at the end
of the listing. When you last posted you indicated a price that I
personally thought was very high. You'll find people with interest as the
price goes down. The penny start will generate the most interest. That's
the way it works.

Thanks for the thoughts, Ben. There weren't any completed listings for
that model on EBay, so I priced it at what some other housings were
getting. I guess my problem is that I want to use the $$$ to buy
either a housing for my new S3 or get a separate UW cam, and I'm
looking to get some value back on the G3 housing.

If you need to generate a set amount of money then put a reserve price
on it and list at .01 to start. The low listing price gets interest and
the reserve makes sure that you don't let it go for less than you need.
However, a reserve just pisses some people off and they won't tender a
bid just to have it tossed out for being too low. So, you may want to
list the reserve price in your description of the item.

If it doesn't sell the first time, try lowering the price a few bucks
the second week and so on and so on until you sell it or go broke paying
Ebay fees. Of course, you could also do the ol' shipping dodge where you
sell for $1 and the shipping costs are $450! But, that'll get you tossed
off eBay.

Yes I think you are more likely to sell a camera/housing than just a
housing. The question is, will you get more for the system than you
pay for the camera. Only one way to find out.

I sold a 1.3 megapixel Sealife and hoursing for over $200 late last
year. Ebay auction number is 7578047354. You should be able to look
it up.
