Hi,

I'm looking to buy a new tank lamp and am considering the Gilan
Traveller 12.5w HID lamp (the one without hand lamp option). The price
of 600 euros seems pretty good for a 3 hour burn time and 12.5w of HID
light. Certainly similar products from other manufacturers seem more
expensive. The only question is does this come at the expense of quality?

Does anyone have experience with Gilan dive lamp and are they recommended?

Thanks, Barry.

Yeah i bought a Gilan a few years ago, and had to send it back to the
Netherlands at my expense to get it repaired as after the second dive as it
was not charging properly, i sent them an e-mail, and they made some
suggestions on fixes, before they agreed to me sending it to them to take a
look at,  they repaired it (fault with the battery)and sent it back, but i
was still £20.00 out of pocket, because they sold me a dodgy torch,
fortunateley it got nicked soon after and i replaced it with a Greenforce
which has been no problem, personally i think Gilan torches are crap, and
wouldn't go near them !!

Then you'll probably be pleased to know that I found more negative
coverage in nl.sport.duiken and so ended up also buying one of the
Greenforce lights :-)
