Sealife makes two versions of digital cameras. A 2.3 MegaPixel and a
3.1 MegaPixel.
You are correct. It appears to be a version of a Vivatar camera and I
suspect Vivatar makes the camera for SeaLife who puts their name and
logo on it. I saw one at Walmart. I don't even know if Vivatar is
still manufacturing that model camera anymore.
The Sealife version has some additional settings that the standard
Vivatar does not have. I don't know if the Vivatar version has any
possible case differences, albeit minor, that would make it incompatible
with the underwater housing.
This is a picture I took while in Boynton Beach, last November using the
Sealife DC310.

The difference between the DC310 and the DC300 is the underwater
housing. The DC310 allows access to more camera controls. Otherwise
the camera part is the same.

I own one of their old 1.3 megapixel cameras, with a strobe and 3X
macro attachment. Here are some pictures that were taken with that
camera:

I now use a Sony 4 megapixel with no strobe.
As much as I like the sealife, here are some of the reasons I like the
sony better. Remember that the current sealife is better than mine.
More flexibility with the sony. With the sealife, if you accidentally
put the camera in the wrong mode, you take no pictues on that dive.
With the Sony, you can change the mode underwater.
The sony needs less light. The built in flash is sufficient
underwater, and on land, it is better in low light.

Thanks for the picture links and the detailed info. Would you mind linking
some pics from the Sony camera you use now? Also what is the name/model of
the Sony camera and housing?
Thanks a bunch,
Chris

Anything marked New on this page,
http://www.pathcom.com/~bracuk/underwater/index.htm
was taken with a Sony Cybershot DSC-P73 camera and the Sony Marine
Pack.

Dan,
Have you any thoughts on the DSC W7 with housing as the P93 is obsolete and
I have having trouble finding one to purchase.
Any thoughts you have on this would be appreciated.
Thanks

I know that you can buy a P93 with housing here:
http://www.henrys.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/PageDisplay?dest=frames.jsp&curr
ency=CAD&storeId=10001
If you start here, www.henrys.ca, you can opt to shop in US or
Canadian currency.
I have never seen a DSC W7 and therefore have no opinion of it.
However, I do like my P73, and both cameras are made by Sony. I also
like the housing, also made by Sony

Thanks
I saw the web site, camera not in stock right now, this is something I have
found alot, the W7 is also on this web site, just wondered if you thought
that if the W7 has the super ccd had chip as well as the p93, might they be
similar in underwater results and performance?
Also the marine pack is available from sonystyle as well for the W7 and it
along the same lines as the P93's marine pack?
Thanks for your feed back,
